Aspen received this cedar playhouse as a first birthday gift from Bryce’s parents. I had been wanting to do this fun project for a while! However, I will caution you, this is not a quick and easy project. It was extremely time consuming, but so worth it in the end! Aspen loves her little playhouse and so do I!
I started this project by building the playhouse, all except the roof and the accessories. This allowed me to easily prime and paint both the interior and exterior without having a clasterphobic moment being jammed in the playhouse. The entire playhouse only needed one coat of KILZ primer and one coat of paint. I painted the whole house in the color “Wool Skein” by Sherwin Williams and the trim color I chose was “Raccoon Hollow” by Benjamin Moore.
I then spray painted the accessories with a plastic spray paint primer, then a spray paint in my color of choice. The door knobs and the planters were sprayed with a “bronze” finish spray paint and the kitchen appliances in a light grey. I had also primed the plastic windows with the same spray paint and then covered them in the exterior trim paint.
Finally, I attached the roof with the interior side of the roof already painted. Once it was fully assembled, I primed and painted the exterior of the roof.
Then, it was time to decorate! I found an adorable wooden stool from TJ Maxx along with the mini wreath, basket, and small grey “things” sign. I also added a little rug from Target. I finished the house off with a cast iron bell from Amazon and two grey wooden chairs that I scored at Home Goods!
Beautiful! Where did you find the window planters?
Is the playhouse weathering well?
I found them at TJ Maxx forever ago 🙂
